Hi there, welcome! We are Killdeer Floral: a woman, family owned floral designer serving the Kansas City area. Established in 2026 and run by my mom, Kristin, and myself, Lauren, we are dedicated to creating bespoke arrangements that bring beauty to your life. Our name is an homage to my grandparents’ property, Killdeer Farms, and carries on their love of nature and design. We can’t wait to create joy for you through flowers.
Killdeer Floral started as a needed change. I worked retail for almost ten years, got laid off twice in the past two years, and gave my all to jobs that didn’t give much back. After losing what I thought was my dream job, I had several conversations with my mom about what comes next. We talked about our hopes and dreams and what we wanted from our futures. We decided to begin something new and scary, but something we knew would feed our souls instead of draining them. My mom and I always make floral arrangements for holidays and friends, but decided to take our passion and grow.
We chose our name as an homage to my grandparents and their home, Killdeer Farms. My Tutu had a green thumb and grew a bunch of really beautiful flowers on their property at Killdeer Farms. Peonies were a favorite, and I remember holding huge blooms the size of my little-kid head. I would run and go show my Grandpa George, who would be in his woodworking shop. Between the two of them, their infectious love for nature and craftsmanship spilled over into me. And now I share that love with you.
